Amy's Eden Senior Care introduced the Two-Resident Assisted Living Model in Nevada in 2013 — a deliberate alternative to large-facility care. Two residents per private residential home. One dedicated caregiver. 1:2 ratio. Twenty-four hours a day.
2Residents per home
1:2Caregiver ratio
24/7Continuous coverage
What is the Two-Resident Assisted Living Model?
It is a senior care model in which exactly two residents share a private residential house — a real one, in a real neighborhood — with one dedicated caregiver present 24/7 and relief shifts ensuring continuous coverage. There is no front desk, no wing, no shared dining hall with 40 strangers.
Each resident has their own bedroom. Meals are cooked in the kitchen the day they're eaten. Visitors come and go like family. The caregiver knows the residents by name, by history, by habit — because they aren't divided across twenty other people.
Amy's Eden Senior Care pioneered this model in 2013 and operates 10 such residences today across Reno and Carson City, Nevada. The model is also referred to as the two-resident assisted living home model or the 1:2 caregiver-to-resident ratio model.

The Difference, Side by Side
Traditional facility vs. the Two-Resident Assisted Living Model
Same regulatory category. Wildly different lived experience for your loved one. The model Amy's Eden introduced in 2013 was designed specifically to fix what the facility model breaks.
Traditional assisted living facility
30–100+ residents per building
1 caregiver responsible for 8–15 residents per shift
Front desk, key codes, scheduled visitation windows
Caregivers rotate; your loved one rarely sees the same face two days in a row
Wing layouts, long hallways, institutional lighting
Average call-bell response: minutes to half an hour
Amy's Eden Two-Resident Assisted Living Model
2 residents per home
1 dedicated caregiver per shift, paired with the same residents
Meals cooked in the home that day, customized to each resident's preferences and needs
Family welcome whenever; overnight stays often possible
Same caregiver, day after day — they truly know your loved one
A real house, a real garden, a real living room
Call-bell response: immediate. The caregiver is steps away.
The math is brutal — and that's the point
In a typical assisted-living facility, one caregiver is responsible for 8 to 15 residents per shift. In a Two-Resident Assisted Living Model, that ratio is 1 to 2. The difference is not subtle.
~32 minCaregiver time per resident, per 8-hour shift in a typical facility (1:15 ratio)
240 minCaregiver time per resident at Amy's Eden (1:2 ratio)
7.5×More direct attention. Same hourly cost of care, profoundly different experience.
The caregiver knows their favorite song, when they prefer coffee, the grandchild's name, the story they like to tell. Care plans aren't on paper — they're in memory.
2. Immediate response
Falls, panic, confusion — they don't wait for a button to be answered. The caregiver is in the next room. This matters more as cognitive decline progresses.
3. Memory-care friendly by design
For residents with dementia or Alzheimer's, the small home + consistent caregiver + calm environment dramatically reduces anxiety, sundowning, and behavioral incidents.
4. Dignity, not institutionalization
No name badges. No buzzer to enter. No shared bathroom. No nightly bed-check rounds. The home feels like a home because it is one.
5. Aging in place — without moving
As needs progress from independent to full care to memory care to end-of-life, the same home and same caregiver can support all of it. Coordinated with hospice when the time comes.
6. Family is family
Visit anytime. Bring grandkids. Stay the night when it matters. The home isn't a place to deposit your loved one — it's where they live.

You can tell they truly care about the well-being and happiness of their residents and clients. Communication is excellent, the caregivers are dependable, and the level of professionalism is outstanding. It's hard to find a team this committed and passionate about what they do. Highly recommended to anyone looking for quality senior care with people who treat your loved ones like family.

My dear friend moved into one of the houses of Amy's Eden and she absolutely loves it. She keeps telling me about how wonderful and personalized the care she is that she has been receiving since moving in. I would highly recommend Amy's Eden for your loved ones.
Really nice caregiving staff. My grandma loves very much, all the facilities and especially meals. She is 78 years old now, independent living care with quality time. Value for money.
Amy's Eden Senior Care has been a fantastic place for my dad. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, and the facility feels more like a cozy home than a senior center. Dad enjoys his life in Amy's Eden assisted living home — beautifully kept garden. We've seen such a positive change in him since he moved in. Deena and her team truly care about their residents, and it shows in every detail. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

I am so happy to have found such a lovely home for my 98 year old mother. Assisted living just wasn't working anymore. Charlie and Julia were very informative, helping me find the perfect place and helping with the transition. The caregivers have been super sweet with my mother, feeding her and making sure she is comfortable 24 hours a day. 🙏
Positive experience with Amy's Eden Senior Care. Julia Shepherd has been terrific working with my Father. She's very special and has a deep background in Assisted Living.
My family and I are incredibly impressed with the level of care and attention my uncle receives at Amy's Eden Senior Care in Reno. The staff is not only professional but also caring, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's reassuring to know he's in good hands. Five stars all the way!
Monday Jan 15, 2024 I called in a panic. The rehab center that my daddy was in, was kicking him out on that day, if we were ready or not. Charlie came to my rescue. I didn't know what I was doing, but he talked me through it. He sent out the most amazing caregiver I have ever met. Roberto treated daddy as if he were his own family. He talked with all of us and made us feel comfortable right away. There was a day when transportation was an issue for a caregiver to come out. I called Charlie and he sent Julia out to help. Daddy talked her ear off and they both loved every minute. From that day forward, Roberto took care of daddy. They had some good talks. I know daddy cared deeply for Roberto, and felt comfortable with him. It was only 2 weeks that daddy was with Amy's Eden, however I know we would have never made it through without them. 🙏
My Mother-in-law was in this facility for several years and we could always tell she was so happy there. She made so many new friends and lived there till she turned almost 102. A great place for things to do, so loved and pampered. Caregivers took very good care of her needs. She always wanted for us to be introduced to everyone in there with her.
This place gives an outstanding care for your loved ones. My grandmother got the best care she needed and felt very comfortable and very happy being with them. ❤️
We had to transition our mother from her home to a home with a caretaker 24/7. She's had some pretty severe health bouts along with hospital and rehabs so many times in the last 2 1/2 years we have lost count. It's taking a huge toll on her on her health and she won't recover in some aspects, let alone be able to take care of herself and her house at the same time for she lived alone.
Everybody at Amy's Eden has welcomed us and treated us like family, very patient with our emotional state and most of all our mother's. Within 2 days her blood pressure was extremely lower, she is at ease, she looks great, stress level much lower, no longer scared for she is never alone. She has been there 3 months and no trips to the hospital — that is amazing right there.
This is a unique facility. They went out of their way to make my mother's transfer seamless, which was not easy. I was pleased with the whole experience.
Wonderful staff. Beautiful location with a very homey feel!
